Common Questions
Who runs Aubury & Co?
Cheryl Renton founded the studio and still designs with us. Lauren Reece, trained at the Inchbald School of Design in London, is Partner and Principal Designer. On a project you work directly with them, from the first conversation to long after the rooms are finished.
Is Aubury & Co the same studio as Aubury Interiors?
Yes. The studio has been in Ponteland since 2005 and traded for many years as Aubury Interiors. It is the same team, the same founder and the same telephone number, 01661 871901; the name changed with the website.
Where is the studio, and where do you work?
We are in Ponteland, Northumberland NE20, and studio visits are by appointment. We work across Ponteland, Darras Hall, Corbridge, Gosforth, the Northumberland coast, Newcastle upon Tyne and the wider North East; see where we work.
Do you make your own curtains and soft furnishings?
Yes. Our own workroom in Ponteland makes the curtains, Roman blinds, pelmets, headboards, cushions and upholstered pieces in our schemes, so the fabric belongs to the room from the start. See the workroom.
What happens to furniture that is replaced during a project?
Where a good piece is no longer needed, we help find it a new home: households across the North East, families beginning again, safe houses, young people in hostel accommodation and charities working in our region. Once a piece has found its new home, we come back and tell you where it has gone. Read about A Second Life for Good Pieces.
How do you approach a project?
Three principles. Considered design: every colour, material and placement has a reason, and we listen first to how you live. Uncompromising quality: trusted artisans and suppliers who share our commitment to longevity. Personal service: you work directly with us throughout.
